MUNICIPALITY OF BROD
The remains of a relatively big settlement from the Bronze Age, 1600 B.C., were discovered in the area of Sijekovac village during the construction works on Oil Rafinery enlargement in the period 1957 - 1963. Oil Rafinery Bosanski Brod emerged from the chemical industry plant established in 1892 by Danica Company from Budapest, which became an initial phase of the development of this area.
Geographical Position [Top]
The municipality of Brod is located in the northern part of BiH and in the western part of the NE region of BiH, in the aluvial plane called Posavina. It is bounded by the municipalities of Derventa, Doboj, Modriča, Odžak and Slavonski Brod (in Croatia). The favorable geographic position of the BiH area closest to the important traffic line - longitudinal Posavina road and main railroad communication line Ljubljana - Zagreb - Belgrade, had significant impact on the development of Brod. Construction of the European Corridor 5C will bring new development opportunities and will make Brod municipality even closer to Hungary and Central and Western Europe.
Network of local roads is in rather good condition, as well as town streets. Main roads are also of good quality connecting Brod with Derventa and Odžak in BiH and with Slavonski Bord in Croatia. The whole area of Brod municipality is covered by water supply system, however waste water system covers only major part of the town.

Telecommunication infrastructure: 240 km of Municipality is covered by the signal of all three BiH mobile operators as well as Croatian mobile network. The Internet connection provided through the fixed telephone network (dial up) and ADSL and wireless connection available in the town area.
