MUNICIPALITY PELAGIĆEVO
History
Municipality of Pelagićevo was formed and commenced its activity on January 30, 1993, in line to the Decision nbr. 01 - 1499/92, from 16 Sept.1992, of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. The municipality was formed from the part of the pre-war municipality Gradačac, based on the expressed will of its people to the changed political and social reality.
Geographical Settlement [Top]

The municipality of Pelagićevo, situated in the northeastern part of Republika Srpska, in the center of flat and fertile Posavina, encompasses territory of 178 km2, between 44o 50' & 44o 57' of north geographic latitude and 18o 25' & 18o 37' of geographic longitude, with an average altitude of 95 meters above the sea level.
To the west, it borders with municipality of Gradačac, Federation of BiH, to the southeast with Brcko District of BiH, and to the North and East with municipalities of Šamac and Donji Žabar. Favorable geographic position is the proximity and good connections with more populated regional centers: the seat of the municipality is 22km far from Brčko, 30 km from Šamac, 17km from Gradačac; Županja is 30 km from Pelagićevo, Tuzla 50 km; Osijek 80 km, with distances to Sarajevo 180 km, Belgrade 210 and Zagreb 270km.
The main road Orašje- Tuzla as well as regional roads Pelagićevo-Gradačac, Gradačac-Šamac, Obudovac-Tramošnica run through the municipality. The route of the main road Banjaluka -Bijeljina, connecting west of Republika Srpska to its east, is 8 km northeast from the municipality, and distance from the highway Belgrade-Zagreb is 30km to the north.
Although not directly accessible by the rail and water, Muncipality of Pelagicevo is in relative proximity of rail and water roads, nearest railway stations and water ports being Brčko and Šamac. Important regional trade center, Arizona Market is located near the southeast corner of the municipality.
Infrastructure [Top]
Road network consists of local and non-categorized asphalt and unpaved roads, total length of asphalt roads being 17,5 km, while unpaved 42 km. Also, main and regional roads run through the municipality:
. Gradačac - Šamac, through the place Ledenice, 3km,
. ?budovac - Tramošnica, length 8 km and
. Pelagićevo - Gradačac, i.e. Pelagićevo -Turići, 9,50 km.
The first two being managed and maintained by the Road company Doboj-put, the last one by the Bijeljina putevi.
Apart from the a/m regional roads, the main road Orasje -Tuzla also run through the municipality, in the length of 12 km through the settlements of Pelagićevo and Porebrice, managed in this section by the Bijeljina putevi.
There is automatic telephone switchboard providing rather good telecommunication services to the population. Approximately 60% of the territory of the municipality is covered by the telephone network. However, certain settlements such as Donja and Gornja Tramošnica, Turić, Samarevac and Donje Ledenica are not covered. The mobile signal is enabled as the temporary solution for the Samarevac and Donje Ledenice , yet Tramošnica and Turić are not covered. Municipality has started certain activities in order to solve this problem and enable fixed telephone connections to this part. Connection to the Internet is provided via Telekom RS and also via regional wireless internet provider.
The whole area of Pelagićevo municipality is covered with electricity infrastructure, high-voltage network of 70km and low-voltage network of 420km. Electricity distribution network is of rather good quality, specially in the western part of the municipality being recently reconstructed and modernized through the donations to the returnees.
The only exception is the poor situation in the Kozići village and Centar 2 in Pelagićevo with plans for reconstruction of these sections in near future.
Except a small part of municipality with water-pipelines, there is no system of potable water supply in the municipality. Since the majority of municipality is supplied with water through the private wells and hydrophores, construction of potable water supply system is one of the municipal priorities for the future period.
Municipality of Pelagićevo has neither spatial nor regulatory plans. The only regulation in this area is the New Settlement Regulatory Plan from 1999, made for the construction of a new housing block for settlement of displaced persons and refugees. Due to the lack of planning documents, decision related to the construction land allocation are temporarily brought by the local municipal assembly.
Investment locations [Top] Due to the lack of spatial and urban plans, there are no identified and determined locations for investments. The area of two current industrial zones for the business development was allocated and determined by the Statute of the municipality.
Worth mentioning is the industrial zone Donja Kladuša since there are plans for construction of the by-pass road connecting regional road Pelagićevo-Gradačac to main road Tuzla-Orašje.
Cattle market will be transferred to this location and a number of buildings and necessary infrastructure constructed in order to create conditions for single business space along the by-pass road.
