MUNICIPALITY ŠEKOVIĆI

History
Municipality of Šekovici was named after the residents of Šekovina area in Herzegovina (south-east BiH) who migrated to the area of today Šekovići by the end of XVII century.

Geographical Settlement  [Top]
The municipality of Šekovići iz located in the northeastern part of BiH, in the RS Entity and sub-region called Birač. Larger centers in its proximity are Tuzla (50 km) and Zvornik (40 km) and Sarajevo is 100 km from Šekovići.

Infrastructure  [Top]
- The municipality of Šekovići is located in the remote area, back from the main transit lines. The regional road Tiąča-Šekovići-Caparde cuts through municipality and enables access to Vlasenica and Zvornik-Tuzla main roads. The network of local roads runs through the municipality.
- The organizational unit of PTT RS with the seat in Zvornik covers the area of ©ekovići municipality. Public Company Telecom RS is in charge of providing and maintaining telecommunication services.
- The public company " Zelenilo i čistoća" is managing public utilities and water supply to the population.
